Golf Swing Investigation

Forensic examinations take place as part of a Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) in an effort to determine what took place at the scene of a crime. This involves analyzing the scene and gathering facts to determine what took place.

Likewise, our Golf Swing Investigation (GSI) is aimed at determining what happened during your swing to make the ball behave like it did. While it may not necessarily be a Crime Scene, the results of your golf swing can provide important clues as to what you are doing wrong, and what you are doing correctly.

What is your divot trying to say about your golf shot?

You should aim to strike the ball before hitting the ground. Your divot should start closer to the hole than where the ball was. If you hit the ground before striking the golf ball, then you will lose power in your swing and the ball will not travel as far as it should.

Do you know why your shots don't go where you aim them?

If you are consistently missing your target, stand behind and check your divot. Is it pointing at your target, or to the right or left of the target? If it is pointing at the target, but the ball is missing the target, then you will need to focus on things like your swing plane, club head position at impact, and ball flight to determine the cause.

What can a hole in the palm of your golf glove tell you?

If you are wearing a hole in your glove, it typically means that the club handle is moving in your hand during your swing. The friction caused by this movement will wear a hole in your glove over time.
